Lexus Australia To Recall Vehicles Due To High Pressure Fuel Pump

Lexus has initiated a safety recall on approximately 450 GS F, LC 500, and RC F models produced from September 2014 until December 2017.

The recall is due to a condition affecting the high pressure fuel pump.

Involved vehicles are equipped with an engine that has two high pressure fuel pumps that use pulsation dampers to reduce fuel pressure fluctuations.

There is a possibility that the pulsation damper in one of the high pressure fuel pumps could become damaged by fuel pressure resonance that occurs under specific operating conditions.

This damage can lead to abnormal noise and vibration that, over time, can cause the pump cover to develop a fatigue crack that may result in a fuel leak.

In the presence of an ignition source, this could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

Lexus Australia will personally contact all affected vehicle owners so they can make an appointment at their preferred Lexus dealer.

Lexus dealers will replace both high pressure fuel pumps free of charge, with the repair taking approximately three hours to complete.

There have been no incidents or injuries reported in Australia as a result of this condition.
