This Is The End Of The Line For The Current Aston Martin Vanquish

Aston Martin is in the midst of refreshing its entire product line, which is undoubtedly a good thing, but it does mean we have to say goodbye to some excellent cars. One of the best, the current-generation Vanquish, is headed out of production soon, but not before it gets sent off in style. The 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S Ultimate is a 175-car limited-run farewell to this lovely car.

2018 Aston Martin Vanquish

Unfortunately for US enthusiasts, the Vanquish S Ultimate will only be sold in the UK, where it’ll cost £211,995 ($281,000), and Germany, where it’ll cost €278,995 ($324,438). Aston Martin will offer this final 2018 Vanquish S in either coupe or open-top Volante form, and deliveries are expected to begin next Spring.

Additionally, the Vanquish S Ultimate will be offered in three standard exterior schemes—Ultimate Black with Copper Bronze graphics (pictured), Xenon Gray with Cobalt Blue graphics, and White Gold with Warm Bronze graphics—though customers can have any other color they want. These exterior schemes also come paired with matching interior trim.

Like the regular Vanquish S it’s based on, the Vanquish S Ultimate is powered by a 5.9-liter V12 that sends its 580 horsepower to a rear-mounted eight-speed transaxle. This will be one of the last applications of Aston’s naturally aspirated V12, an engine that’s come to define the brand. The Vanquish S Ultimate also gets standard carbon-ceramic brakes, and three-way adaptive dampers.

While it’s sad to see this Vanquish go, there’s no need to get too upset, since we have good reason to believe that a new Vanquish will make its debut next year. For more on Aston’s future plans, read our wide-ranging interview with CEO Andy Palmer from last month.
